Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Dropbox to organize and share our files across the company. In Customer Success, I'm able to see all of our customer's contracts. We're also able to access the marketing assets (videos, photos, images for email signature and LinkedIn headers, assets for new product launches, etc). It's an easy way to make sure we're using the latest and most up to date version.

Pros

Provides a single place to access company wide documents
Allows for easy sharing
Backs up my data and documents from my local drive

Cons

It's not easy to see when a document was last updated, if it was replaced by a new version
Sometimes, hard to make sure the right people have the right access.

Return on Investment

Dropbox has helped us work more efficiently, since we don't have to ask each other for the latest version of the contract. We're able to be more productive.

Google Drive

Dropbox makes it easy than Google Drive to find the files you're looking for and to share out the latest version of the files. However, Google Drive makes it easier to collaborate with your colleagues on a file together.

Dropbox is well suited for companies who need to share documents and files across the company. It's especially well suited for companies with 100+ employees and multiple teams. With smaller companies of less than 100 employees, you can probably get away with using Google Drive, which is a cheaper alternative.
