Evernote - My digital notebook!
Overall Satisfaction with Evernote
I use Evernote as my digital notebook to streamline, organize, and manage all of my ongoing and future projects in notebooks. I mainly use it for managing my content for future blogs, articles, and future workshops and presentations. I love how I can quickly add content on the fly with web clipper, my iPhone, and skitch. I also use Skitch when explaining apps and tools online. I have helped my clients go completely paperless by managing all their personal and business records; as well as travel planning, document their current travels, organize their recipes, and so much more.
Pros
- Quickly store important information you find online by using the web clipper
- See something you like or need to remember? Take a quick picture and add it to your Evernote
- Tags are a great way to organize and streamline your information and eliminates the use of a lot of notebooks (AKA folders) - less is always better.
- Skitch is a great tool to make notes on your images
- Clean up your email inbox by forwarding emails into Evernote
- You can create links to other notes or websites
Cons
- Export notes to a PDF version
- You can work from anywhere
- Easy access to information
- Easy file sharing
There a lot of products on the market - some great and a lot of 'not so great', but it's all a matter of finding the right fit. Some examples:
PBworks vs Evernote: Evernote is a simpler way of managing your files. PBworks has deeper levels of managing different areas of your business. You can comment on files. There is also a project management feature.
Dropbox vs Evernote: You can store much more in the free version of Dropbox versus the free Evernote version. In Evernote you can interlink, use tags, and you have great apps to easily add more info to your notebooks, i.e. web clipper, camera, Skitch, Hello, etc.
