Overall Satisfaction with Expensify

I use Expensify for personal expense reports and to manage team expense reports and team purchases on a corporate card. We do reconciliation monthly for thousands of dollars of expenses and it helps to identify purchases and add tags and labels by department and business purpose. It is easy to add receipts and add mileage to and from various airports.

Pros

  • Mileage - I find it very easy to create a map for mileage to and from the airports when traveling for work as I live far and need to track expenses.
  • Sub department tracking - we use a corporate card and use Expensify for tracking purchases with great detail that includes receipts and business purposes for different parts of our departments.
  • Mobile app friendly - we can use the mobile app easily while traveling for adding great quality photos of receipts.

Cons

  • Global use - we have team mangers and team mates all over the globe and it would be great to have an icon for currency as a manager so I can identify costs and currency conversions for budgeting.
  • Multiple page receipts - you can only upload a PDF or multiple page receipts. Sometimes you have to go out of the tool and back in to add more pages.
  • Auto-scanning - auto scanning and tagging could be a bit faster with the use of new AI tools.
  • Saves time - It used to take me hours to do expenses when coming home from a work trip and now I can usually get a 3-4 day trip worth of expenses done in 30 minutes. Mostly because I use the app while traveling and try to capture a receipt immediately.
  • Corporate expense reconciliation - I am able to reconcile thousands of dollars of expenses very quickly each month because of the auto upload and tagging. It makes checking and double checking in a hour or less.
  • Saves the company money - I can spend less time on manual expenses and more time driving revenue for the company I work for. I am focused on more high value tasks.
The usability is really great. The design team has done a great job with the layouts and functionality is very top tier. I work with world-class designers so I pay attention to the details and think overall the Expensify product designers think about the user experience. The only thing I would improve is the title of the report is like an open field. I think it should prompt you with specific details like employee name and business purpose to make it easier for managers to review.

I would recommend Expensify to anyone in tech and other types of business. We are a large global company and it is easy to use for all the employees and really supports our needs in the department that I work. I think the user interface is very well done and easy to use.
