Overall Satisfaction with Figma

Figma is currently being tested and tried out by myself and another designer in my organization. Depending on how the trial goes, we hope to utilize it with our entire development team for implementing a design system and handing off designs and prototypes in our product development process. Figma has an emphasis on collaboration between designers and developers, which is an internal process we want to improve on.
  • Figma allows multiple designers to work on the same files, removing the need for file versioning.
  • Figma allows designers to share mockups with developers so that they can inspect the designs.
  • Figma is a great design tool, but it still has some quirks that are hard to adjust too.
  • Occasionally Figma can be very slow, mainly because it is a web tool.
  • Figma has helped us to prototype and design faster.
  • Figma has helped increase collaboration between designers and developers.
Figma is relatively new compared to other design tools such as Sketch. However, Figma is growing incredibly fast and has an active community. Also, Figma outperforms Sketch because it allows collaboration, design, file management, and developer handoff all in a single tool. Other competitors are trying to catch up on these features.
Figma has a great community, and it's effortless to get help. Fortunately for me, I've never had any issues with figuring out because their web pages and help tutorials are user-friendly and intuitive. Hence, it has been a great experience so far, and I feel like they are doing a great job.

Figma is an excellent tool for both individual designers and teams of designers. It is especially beneficial for designers who often work in the same files together, or designers that want to bring in developers on the design process. It's hard to think of a scenario where Figma would be less appropriate, considering it is so flexible.
