Overall Satisfaction with G Suite

We use G Suite company wide for the bulk of our internal and external communications. It's so much more than just email as you get file storage, document collaboration, calendar, the list goes on and on.
  • Document collaboration in real time is almost magic.
  • Email and calendar are both reliable and feature rich.
  • It's far easier to configure and administer than an on premise solution like Exchange.
  • Excellent documentation and responsive support staff when you need it.
  • Hangouts just isn't up to the task of being an enterprise chat solution. We use Slack instead.
  • Lack of a good desktop client is a problem for some users who are used to Outlook.
  • There are still some settings that can only be set by end users, like vacation response, that would be very helpful to have access to as an admin.
  • Structurally complex organizations (multiple child companies, acquisitions, etc.) can be challenging with G Suite. It is lacking a forest-like function.
  • G Suite has saved countless hours in infrastructure management and administration thanks to its cloud roots and excellent documentation.
  • A few of our old school employees who swear by Outlook have refused to adapt to G Suite. This isn't the fault of the product but nonetheless something to keep in mind.
  • The uptime provided by G Suite is a huge benefit. We can trust that emails will always go where we want them and that the system won't go down.
When comparing G Suite to Exchange, G Suite takes the cake in almost every respect. It's easier to use, designed for the cloud (unlike Exchange Online), and you get all of the excellent other Google Services. It's a pretty insane value. Do your homework, make sure you've identified all the edge use cases. If G Suite can do everything you need, there's no reason to look elsewhere.
G Suite will be an excellent fit for most organizations. Cloud-first organizations will especially appreciate G Suite and it's myriad of web tools.

G Suite might be less of a fit if an organization is already heavily invested in Exchange. Sales organizations might also find the lack of mail merge a problem.

G Suite really shines in that it can be set up easily and cheaply while still being a full featured product. A start up can be born on G Suite and never need to leave!
