Overall Satisfaction with Google Forms

We utilize Google Forms with staff and students for everything from a quick one-question test to feedback surveys. Google Forms integrates perfectly with the rest of the Google suite and also with outside users. Google Forms now has a great tool to summarize responses as well as being able to export to Google Sheets. There are a variety of question types. This tool has allowed us to no longer utilize Survey Monkey.

Pros

  • Easy to create and use
  • Simple distribution options including embedding
  • Summary tools to see responses
  • Ability to collect email address automatically within domain

Cons

  • Ability to filter summary results by other question answers
  • Easy way to print/export all summary charts
  • Additional formatting within questions and/or answers
  • We eliminated the use of Survey Monkey allowing us to save that annual cost
  • We have begun using it as proof of receipt for various documents instead of paper copies
  • Teachers utilize it instead of paper tests lowering our printing costs
We use Google Forms now instead of Survey Monkey. The question types are fairly similar and both are easy to use but Google Forms is definitely a "lighter" survey tool than Survey Monkey. It fits our day-to-day needs as we don't do robust surveys requiring large amounts of analytics. It would work best to gather information where it can either be an easy answer or exported to Sheets to be further analyzed.

Would you buy Google Forms again?

Yes

The interface is simple and intuitive. The first time you use Google Forms, it has a built in tutorial that goes through all the basics. Most people can pick up how to use it with minimal support. There are some advanced features that require a bit more work but there are plenty of videos and directions online. Google has a great support section that is easy to follow.
Google has a support team but it isn't the most helpful with Forms. I find most of my answers by searching online and watching tutorial videos. I would recommend utilizing online resources before contacting their live support team for help. Just make sure that they are recent videos or directions. Google is constantly updating their interfaces so it is easy for things to get out of date.
Google Forms works great to get quick feedback for surveys. The data is best if it does not need to be filtered at all so if you're trying to get feedback from multiple groups, it is best to make copies of the survey and see the results separately or have someone who is proficient in Sheets be able to aggregate the data.
