We use to track the pages indexed in Google Search Console through our site map submissions and general crawl. We see what causes some pages from not getting indexed.
It also shows insights into links, keywords and page load issues

Return on Investment

Very little - any info is what is passed into Google Analytics.
It shows certain pages that are not getting indexed so can see a pattern.

Bing Webmaster Tools

Smaller traffic numbers but has some better ranking information.

Support Rating

Never used - but few Google tools have actual reps helping - usually just FAQs and videos.

Given there is very little else that can provide these insights, it is necessary to use what is out there. While the Google Search Console does provide insights - there is nowhere else that can get this much - Bing has a few extra items, but it tracks Bing traffic which is much smaller
