Overall Satisfaction with Google Sheets
Use it daily to manage different engineering tasks, normally to be shared with the organization with multiple people working together in the same place, which is very powerful: a shared place to work on a very open document where everyone can write everything at the same time, but also at the same time you can define rules and automations. For very heterogeneous groups of people in terms of technical knowledge, this is a key product to be used.
Pros
- There's a migration to be done by multiple departments and every needs to add their input
- Calibration management, with multiple people evaluating their direct reports
- Machine learning human in the loop tasks, where people need to share their status
Cons
- Gemini connects to google sheets but doesn't have real-time awareness of the changes
- Gemini only has read-only capacity, would be important to have a way to edit too given the google sheets have history and can be reverted
- Offline capabilities are ok, but it should have more offline features
- No more office licenses, direct costs optimization
- No more copy past files: much more efficiency in sharing documents without the need of emails, just a link
- No more copy past files: which resulted in people not having outdated files
- Microsoft Excel, LibreOffice and WPS Office
Microsoft Excel in terms of singular user continues to be the best one in my opinion, but for collaboration I don't agree in that position, Google Sheets are better. Libre Office and WPS Office unfortunately are far away from the quality of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets, they are good solutions if you don't want to trust the data on external services, other than that they are not good.
