Overall Satisfaction with Gusto
This is a payroll product that I recommend to my small business clients.
Pros
- Very simple to set up and can be used for both employees and contractors.
- Automatic state and federal filing with reminders about upcoming filing dates.
- Excellent and responsive support.
- Good reporting.
Cons
- The integration to Xero is awkward and not scalable. That is an area that can be improved upon.
- Cost efficient - no staff needed to run payroll.
- No penalties incurred due to late filing of required state and federal reporting.
- Time and energy of company principals spent on building the business, not fussing with payroll details.
I love Xero, but the payroll product offered a couple of years ago was woefully inadequate. Xero has made great strides in improving their payroll product but I still prefer Gusto for small business payroll processing.
The other payroll products I have worked with, like ADP and Ceridian, are not comparable as they are not suitable for the small business niche.
