Simplify Payroll with Gusto
Overall Satisfaction with Gusto
We use Gusto for Payroll, Onboarding, and Benefits Administration with our 3rd-party broker. Gusto processes our payroll and files and pays all related forms and fees for multiple states. We use Gusto to make sure new employees are completely onboarded from Offer Letter to Form I9 completion. We also customized the onboarding checklists to fit our company and our various departments. Gusto partners AP Intego/Next Insurance and Guideline 401K enable seamless management of these vital parts of our company. Fun and helpful features like Monthly Employee Surveys and Birthday and Welcome Aboard e-cards are extras that we have found value in as well. Gusto has a great help and support feature that explains and provides step-by-step instructions for registering in new states, making payroll adjustments, and other unexpected issues that come up. If you can't find an answer, the help desk is pretty readily available via chat, email, or phone call.
Pros
- Complete onboarding process from Offer to First Day. Offer letter templates can be customized for each candidate. Onboarding checklists can be customized for specific departments and roles. Welcome emails signed by the team are a fun option. Reminders for open checklist items keep everyone on track.
- Expense reporting is super easy in Gusto. Employees upload the receipt and fill in details to be approved by management. Approved expenses are automatically added as reimbursement on the employee's next check.
- Payroll processing is very straightforward and detailed reporting is available. We ofter have adjustments to employee's base salary that can be mapped to easily integrate with QuickBooks Online. It is easy to pay salaried and hourly employees in Gusto, as well as, contractors.
Cons
- Gusto's tax support department is very slow to respond. I have had several issues where I've needed help with a state tax notice and it is usually over a month before I hear back.
- A termination off-boarding checklist similar to the on-boarding checklist would be super helpful so that all aspects of an employee's history could be captured in Gusto.
- A Work Anniversary e-card feature would be a nice addition as well, maybe there could even be partner links for sending e-gift cards.
- Sometimes Dashboard messages are difficult to clear even after I have done what was required. I have (2) items there now that support is trying to resolve.
- Payroll tax filings
- Form W2 generation and delivery
- QuickBooks Online sync
- Dashboard reminders
- Gusto has greatly simplified payroll processing for our company. It can be done quickly and easily since moving from our previous provider.
- Gusto is very affordable and has most of the features we require, without paying a PEO for features that we do not use.
