Overall Satisfaction with Harvest

Harvest is being used by our entire team. It is a small team of 7 employees. We use it for across the board time tracking for employee hours, but also to keep track of time being used for each client. Without this time tracking, we would have to manually keep track of how many hours are being allocated to each client project. We also use Harvest for invoicing. It addresses the problem of not knowing how much money to expect for the month, and it also makes for a professional looking invoice template that is easy to use.
  • Time Tracking: Each employee has their own account. They can enter in their time whenever they'd like, to each project.
  • Project Mapping: We are able to separate clients and create projects under each. This allows for quick time tracking and maximum organization.
  • Invoicing: We are able to quickly put together invoices for each client and mark the progress from "drafted" to "sent" to "received" and then able to see the monthly invoiced amounts. I am also able to send out invoicing reminders if it is past the due date.
  • I have had issues in the past with Harvest communicating with QBO. My deposits would not match. I had to disconnect them because of this, but it could have been user error.
  • Billable Rate: Because we can see how much time each employee spends on each project, we are able to calculate our billable hourly rate. This is a good number to know for your company because you can work to become more profitable.
  • Time tracking can be timely. Be prepared for it to take your employees 45+ minutes a week to enter their time, especially if you have many clients and employees working on the projects for short periods.
If you are a company that uses time tracking for clients with individual projects, this is for you. As a manager, you are easily able to see how much budget is left for each project, and which employee spent time on each project down to the minute. Also, as an accountant, you are able to quickly send out professional invoices. I would not recommend this to a company where time tracking to the minute is not important. Or to a company that doesn't send out large monthly invoices.
