Overall Satisfaction with Heap

We use Heap to get a clearer view of how customers navigate our site and to identify points of friction & areas of opportunity. It is largely used by our Front-End team.

Pros

  • Event capture
  • Easy report creation
  • Sharing and collaborating on reports

Cons

  • Unable to create data tables
  • Hard to find session-level metrics
  • Missing some key metric reporting, like bounce rate
  • Improved category page CTR
  • Increased image views

Heap is excellent for e-commerce companies that are looking to get a better understanding of how customers are using their site. They provide unsampled data and capture events automatically, so you need limited technical resources. If you are looking for a data tool to simply replace Google Analytics, it is not recommended as you cannot create data tables nearly as easily and session-level metrics are harder to replicate in the UI [in my experience].
