Overall Satisfaction with IBM SPSS Statistics

We use IBM SPSS Statistics for analyzing data from various research projects in the field of HR, OD (organizational development) and UX (ranging from user profiling to brand perception).
The primary purpose of using SPSS is to analyze and interpret complex data sets, to then employ an evidence-based decision-making for our studies and studies performed for our clients which include big corporations as well as governmental institutions.

  • Simple quick data exploration
  • Building regression models
  • Quickly finding the reliability of questionnaires
  • Running parametric or non-parametric tests
  • It could have a more standard interface
  • It should be able to create nicer graphs and tables
  • Transforming variables view could be less clumsy
  • It could suggest which statistics or tests could be useful to the user in the options windows
  • Its basically what we have to use, so ROI is more than 100% it's crucial to us doing any work
  • R statistic language is harder to learn for workers so SPSS wins
  • R statistic language is slower in use, so SPSS wins for fast analysis
It doesn't play into those categories. If it does it would be the customer churn, due to the not as nice graphs / tables. It maybe could also have a better way to collaborate within the tool between researchers, that would be a time saving, but this feature is missing in it's current version.
We often run business data through SPSS, sometimes just out of curiosity. Yet often we find valuable insights that allow us to create savings, determine which clients profit us the most or how hours-spent at work convert to the results our researchers achieve. I think this tool shouldn't be bought just for business analysis, it's more for research projects, psychology, hr etc. but if you already have it, make use of it.
Its better for quick tasks, Psychology, Sociology, may lack in complex models, AI, or business-decision-making models. It's better for things that you want to compare, correlate or detect influence of one on the other. It's worse that R for complex models, custom models, big data analysis, and much worse that pipline tools for realtime analysis.

Do you think IBM SPSS Statistics delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with IBM SPSS Statistics's feature set?

Yes

Did IBM SPSS Statistics live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of IBM SPSS Statistics go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy IBM SPSS Statistics again?

Yes

Its well suited for:
• Speed of analysis
• Correlation and regression analysis
• Questionnaire testing
• Comparative analysis (parametric and non-parametric tests)
Its not well suited for:
• Comples machine learning models, AI etc.
• Real-time data processing
• Advanced visualization (the graphs look ugly)

I would personally use it in fields like HR, Psychology, Sociology etc. Less of in pipeline work.

Evaluating IBM SPSS Statistics and Competitors

  • Ease of Use
Among tools to analyze statistics, this one stands out because of it's easiness and speed. If you know your data, you can get answers in seconds.
There is really almoze zero competition for this kind of software (maybe you could use Statistica) but really IBM SPSS is the go-to tool.
