Overall Satisfaction with Indeed.com

We use Indeed.com to recruit for IT Client openings such as developers, managers, etc. We use the candidates search tools and post all our openings.
  • Has a very simple process for candidates to post their resume
  • Search database has many candidates who do not use other job boards
  • Offer free job postings
  • No way of searching applicants resumes to bring up the most qualified. I have suggested that employers should be able to apply a boolean search string to the hundreds that apply, so they can narrow down & follow up with those who have the required skills. Without this, it is not practical to go through the time-consuming effort to notify rejected candidates. That frustrates candidates who never hear back, and employers who cannot click on and review the excessive number of folks who apply. Bad for everyone.
  • They do a terrible job in screening vendors who misuse the site and post fake resumes, duplicated under many names and locations. I have been reporting them for years, but those profiles remain.
  • Applicant dashboard does not list even the most basic information like their current job title, city is hit or miss, years of experience, if they can work on W-2, if they are willing to relocate, or what type of work authorization/ visa they need to work under. With only supplying the name, it is not enough information to decide who is worth clicking on to review or pursue.
  • The database search function does not allow selecting those who are applying themselves vs. those who are posted by some third party vendor. This is very important to know when you are emailing them vs. someone else.
  • Indeed.com has the potential to be a world-class job board to employers and job seekers, but is not making improvements/ tweaks in the most vital areas, and instead offers new features that are far less critical.
  • Effectively and efficiently search job applicants resume so we can reach out the most qualified job seekers
  • Effectively and efficiently search resume database so we can reach out the most qualified job seekers
  • Once we email a candidate through Indeed.com, Indeed.com should automatically follow up for a reply quickly! We usually look to submit our candidates to our direct clients in 24-48 hrs. so hearing beck from a job seeker a week later is not practical.
  • Since the job boards have a large percentage of job seekers who need to work through an employer who might sponsor their visa, employers need to know that before wasting time on those who do not meet employer/ client requirements. Other job boards like CareerBuilder and Dice offer this distinction.
  • Resume search database has a positive effect on business based on lower cost, but just because you find a posting for a great candidate, does not mean they will ever reply, or meet the job criteria for payrate, work authorization, location, etc.
  • Applicant screening is in-effective compared to highly positive ROI from sites like DICE
Selected Indeed.com because job seekers use it heavily since it is simple to post their profile and less information is required of them. Downside is less information is available to the employer/ recruiter so job seekers will get more relevant responses on other sites where all their information is considered before they are reach out to by employers. Other job sites are more costly but yield a better outcome for both job seeker and employer/ recruiter.

Do you think Indeed.com delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Indeed.com's feature set?

No

Did Indeed.com live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Indeed.com go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Indeed.com again?

Yes

Well suited for searching the database for qualified resources, not well suited for those posting jobs. That is especially true if the job posted has a broader appeal, or applies to many job seekers, since it will attract hundreds that you will not have time to review. We have found that 1 in 20 are even qualified and have the basic requirements for what we post.
