Overall Satisfaction with InVision Freehand

We use Freehand for sketching and prototyping user flows on both mobile and desktop experiences. I've found it a super intuitive and easy tool for getting ideas out of my head and sharing them with my teams without the pressure of making something look pixel perfect. It's a great work-from-home alternative to a physical whiteboard in a conference room.
  • Intuitive editing features.
  • Rich wireframing tools.
  • Simple for non-UX users to use and participate.
  • Sometimes the pan tool decides to stop working.
  • Bringing in images from outside Freehand is sometimes problematic.
  • The presentation feature with 'frames' isn't straightforward.
  • Wireframing
  • Commenting
  • Templates
  • Takes less time to get teams on the same page.
  • Teams are able to go from idea to code in fewer cycles.

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Freehand by InVision again?

Yes

I absolutely love Freehand and can't imagine collaborating with UX and Engineers on a remote product team without it. I use it for workflow diagrams, visualizing complex data modeling scenarios, and for quick sketching and prototyping of user-facing flows. I wouldn't recommend it for presenting to senior business level stakeholders or for scenarios where Front-end Engineers are looking for more fully polished visuals or detailed pixel by pixel specifications, but it is super powerful for explaining and collaborating. I've also found it difficult to get others involved on my Freehands, sometimes they aren't so quick to jump in and start sketching with me on a live session.
