Overall Satisfaction with Jamf Pro

We are a 1:1 school district with 13,000+ mobile devices, 1,000+ Apple TVs and 1,600+ Macs. We use Jamf Pro to configure and maintain the devices in our 1:1 program. Jamf Pro provides a centralized location to track inventory of the devices and manage them with ease.

Pros

  • Jamf Pro's integration with Apple School Manager is seamless. Once purchased devices are added to Apple's Device Enrollment Program, they are automatically added to our Pre-Stage enrollment in Jamf Pro.
  • The ability to integrate with Active Directory has allowed us to add extension attributes in Jamf Pro which provide us with useful information such as which grade a student is in. This allows us to assign Apps to student devices based on the student's grade-level.
  • Self Service for the Mac has allowed us to create a single location for our users to access apps, websites, and our help desk.

Cons

  • The new interface is a little too dark on certain screens. I would like to see the ability to choose a color scheme. Other than this small issue, I really can't find additional faults with the program.
  • Jamf Pro has had a very positive ROI for the school district. We have one system administrator who is able to manage our large pool of devices using Jamf Pro. We haven't had to hire additional staff as our deployment grows due to its ease of use and efficiency.
The last time we evaluated products like Jamf Pro was eight years ago. At that time, there were only a few other products on the market like Jamf Pro. Based on our evaluation criteria, Jamf Pro was the clear winner, and we've remained with them since then.
There are several support options for Jamf Pro customers. They offer an extensive knowledge base of articles and videos as well as support via phone and video. The support staff at Jamf provide A+ support. Whether it's answering a simple question, troubleshooting a complex problem, or getting us back up and running as quickly as possible.

Jamf Pro is well suited for mid to large size corporations, and educational institutions. It is a very powerful program that easily manages mobile devices. For smaller organizations, 100 devices or less, I'd recommend Jamf Now.

Using Jamf Pro

Everyone in our district uses Jamf Pro. This includes students, teachers, administrators, custodians, and support staff.
3 - Our staff have 10+ years working in a technical support capacity. However, I know of several other school districts that have teachers with all levels of technical skills supporting Jamf Pro.

At the time we were looking for a MDM, Jamf had already been supporting Macs for several years and they only supported Apple products. By focusing only on Apple products, we felt they were able to offer a superior product.

Yes - Due to the number of devices we are managing and the complexity of our installation we pay for premium support. This offers us a dedicated support team.
Yes - Yes, I've reported a few bugs with Jamf Pro, and they've all been resolved in a timely fashion.
We were doing a database conversion that had to occur after hours. Our dedicated support tech gave me his cell phone number and insisted that I call him if anything went wrong with the conversion and when it finished. He didn't have to do this. He could have told me to let him know how went in the morning or referred me to after hours support.
