Overall Satisfaction with Jira Software
Jira is used by the majority of our organization, within most departments, and used for a variety of workflow processing. Each department has a specific use case for it, but it's heavily used in the engineering department to track the software development life cycle using the agile or shape-up methodology.
Pros
- Automating workflows and mundane processes.
- Provide a great UI and visual queues to get work down easily.
- Establishes best practices and support overall engineering workflows.
Cons
- It's not very intuitive when building reports; this area could be more robust.
- They have been working on the "Next Gen" projects and it doesn't currently have all of the functionality as the Classic version; could improve on that.
- There is an automation section. It seems somewhat unreliable.
- Tracking Statuses of workload.
- Managing the software development life cycle.
- Ability to integrate into 3rd party applications.
- Other Jira product integrations like Confluence.
- Cuts development time.
- Ability to be more agile and ship code faster.
- Ability to track work and measure engineering hours.
The Jira software is really top-notch compared to other software programs. It has a better UI and it is more intuitive. The out-of-the-box features make it easy to implement and get started right away. The other software is either more focused on program/product/project management, help desk ticketing systems, or CRMs. Yes, you can build an engineering workflow process in those other products, but why take the effort to custom build all of that when you've got a great product that can do it for you.
