Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

I use Kofax Power PDF Advanced for its full suite of tools. It is used both for editing and publishing technical documents and drawings in PDF format. I like it for its ease of use, security, and flexibility. As a very small business of one, I have to do it all; Kofax Power PDF makes my job easier while presenting a very professional appearance at a very affordable price.
  • Secure, digitally signed documents.
  • Mark-ups and comments.
  • Widely accepted electronic documents.
  • User friendly interface.
  • Help could always be better, more detailed explanations, but that could be said of any software. Make more phone help available where I can actually talk to someone.
  • Where are the pre-made "stamps" such as "Confidential" or "Caution"?
  • I don't really have many complaints! It's works well for me!
  • It saves me time.
  • The price is very reasonable.
  • It's easy to learn and use.
It's easy to learn and use. The time it has saved me is priceless!
I used to use Adobe exclusively years ago, but the price was always too high and the interface kept getting more complicated. Kofax Power PDF is much more bang for you buck! It has all the tools you need, it's far less expensive, and it's easier to use.
I have not had need of customer service other than when I originally made the purchase. Doesn't that tell the whole story?

Whether for business, school, or personal use, it's best you have the ability to create and modify PDF documents. Kofax Power PDF works in all arenas.

Using Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

1 - I am a company of 1; I have to be able to preform all functions a company needs. I use Power PDF for technical documentation primarily, but it is also used everywhere that I need a reliable, secure document format.
1 - Really the skills needed to support Power PDF are reading and typing. I have had no need of support.
  • Technical Documentation
  • Billing
  • Correspondence
  • Internal Documentation
  • Historical Reference
  • Email Archive
  • Publication
  • Reusable Forms
  • Distribution of proprietary information
  • Creation of technical reference material
  • Self-publication
I would very likely continue to update and use Power PDF because I am familiar with it, it has a reasonable price, and continues to provide value for the price. I work in a very dynamic field where I must continually adapt; It's beneficial to use a product that remains consistant in its user interface while improving its features.

Evaluating Kofax Power PDF and Competitors

Yes - Power PDF evolved from Nuance to Kofax and I've been using it for quite a while. However, I abandoned use of its Adobe counterpart because they are too expensive and they like to radically change their user interface often without any real improvement of their features.
  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Prior Experience with the Product
The single most important factor in my choice is consistency. Second to that would be reliability.
I was already hooked on the Nuance version of Power PDF; I wouldn't change my evaluation and selection process at all. However, I do evaluate other products by comparing them to what I already know works very well, Power PDF.

Kofax Power PDF Implementation

Finding out that Nuance was absorbed by Kofax was the only surprise.
Change management was minimal - A product can remain great when absorbed by company other than its creator. I wish it were true in al cases.
  • No issues were encountered.

Kofax Power PDF Support

No. Nor would I. A quality product supports itself. If I need to purchase premium support, I need to find a better product.
I have not needed support. The very few times I've had a question, I've been able to solve it myself; The product has a good help system.
