Overall Satisfaction with Kronos Workforce Ready

I like the tracking system that documents all questions and responses. The timing of response is generally pretty good - within a day, but if there is something critical to processing a payroll that day - be ready to make executive decisions to "guess" and fix it later. So far most of our support issues have resulted in "a glitch in the program that will be escalated" or a workaround to force accurate calculations, but [support is] unable to explain why certain errors/changes occurred.
It is used in our organization to track time worked by various departments in order to do detailed cost accounting down to the department/doctor level. Over 250 employees ranging from clerical [staff] to physicians use the time system. All five of our locations use the same system. We also use the accrual module to accrue time off and record it directly to the timesheets when used.
  • The implementation was done with a team approach and fairly organized and logical method. It was up and running in a fairly timely manner - about 3 to 4 months.
  • Time sheets are detailed and agree directly to actual payment even though we integrate the data and actual pay is done by a different software.
  • All employees have access to view their data and be self sufficient to request time off and review and request timesheet changes.
  • The accrual module is probably the weakest area and unlike their original product, Kronos Works, that did the job well. Currently Kronos Workforce Ready (WFR) cannot provide future accrual estimates easily for employees to project time off available for a future date. This is extremely frustrating when we have to manually explain and calculate their potential time available for specific dates.
  • The accrual module generates inaccurate reports of accrual liability. A known glitch that I wish they would fix already is that automatically scheduled reports seem to produce different (wrong) balances versus running the same report manually. Very hard to duplicate accurate results when the timing has to be EXACTLY run on the same day/same time.
  • Inability for employees to request punch corrections (add in punches) and have the system automatically insert time in chronological order makes the self-service feature to correct timesheets almost unusable. The system should just be able to MODIFY or ADD and if add is selected, insert the time punch automatically in the right sequence. Because of this flaw, managers still have to manually correct time punches based on requests and move punches individually to come out with accurate end of day totals.
  • Lack of security in the mobile access to limit the ability to punch when doing a department transfer. HUGE flaw that makes the mobile access unusable for us. No current way to allow access to at least view and request time off and accrual balances without allowing potential fraudulant punching. The mobile access is ALL or NOTHING feature.
  • Ability to generate OT reports and monitor OT more timely.
  • Has reduced payroll errors as long as timesheets are checked prior to processing.
Timesheets are infinitely more accurate in WFR. The first basic requirement of a timesheet should be to reflect completely what is paid on a given paycheck period. The timesheet has to be simple enough for all employees to be able to view and see how the pay from the time system matches to the pay in their paycheck whether it's calculated using the same software or if integrated with another payroll software. Kronos Workforce Ready does this well.
  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
It's well suited for employees that just punch in/out regularly and do not have the responsibility for reviewing their own time or the desire to look into their accrual details. The basic punching and ability to create multiple layers of department structure is great.
