Overall Satisfaction with Lifesize Video Conferencing

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are currently using Lifesize Video Conferencing for the majority of our conference rooms. Lifesize allows us to quickly and easily schedule or join video conference calls. Previously we used Webex and swapped out for Lifesize a few years ago due to added feature set and pricing.

Pros and Cons

Pros

The touchpad makes it extremely easy to join or start conference calls with a single pushbutton.
The Lifesize solution is affordable and has been extremely reliable for our video conference calls.
Camera quality is great and provides clear video for our organization.
The pan/tilt/zoom features are very helpful to focus in on specific people or items during a training or demonstration.

Cons

The unit is a little larger than we would like, but still easily fits onto most shelves.
Changing the layouts on the screen (via remote control) can be cumbersome at times
Additional microphones have a cord (rather than being wireless), which can be unsightly and a possible trip hazard

Return on Investment

The ability to have a video conference saves us money in travel expenses for large team meetings. Due to our teams being geographically scattered, the ability to have all teams meet remotely is a great asset.
During the COVID-19 outbreak, Lifesize allowed us to conduct "business as usual" by granting us the ability to meet without having everyone in the same room. This not only helps to keep our team members safe, but also can save money by avoiding sick time.

Alternatives Considered

Cisco Webex Meetings

Cisco Webex required us to have webcams on all users, whereas Lifesize can utilize a single device (camera) that multiple employees can use at once. I also think that the video quality on the Lifesize camera is exceptional. The meeting software is relatively easy to use and is very reliable.

Usability

This is not a perfect video conferencing solution, but none of the solutions I have used are (yet). The Lifesize product definitely is an excellent product which is competitively priced. There is a little bit of a "learning curve" with this product, but once you get the hang of it, setting up and/or joining meetings is a breeze.

Support Rating

We have very rarely needed to utilize the support team for Lifesize but when we did, they always were able to assist us in resolving our issues. They were professional and were eager to address our concerns/issues. Despite the limited experience with their support options, I certainly have no complaints.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you have a large conference room, Lifesize is nice because it allows you to zoom in and pan/tilt the camera. This feature is really handy when your team members are far away from the unit. The ability to add additional microphones is also handy so people who are spread out in the room are easier to hear.
