Overall Satisfaction with Marketo

We are using Marketo across our department in order to collect and nurture new leads for our recruiters. This allows us to capture information regarding their activity, which enhances the recruiters information before personally reaching out. This information in invaluable to capture and allows us to adjust our messaging as we see fit, in order to strengthen our marketing and increase our conversion rates.
  • Marketo is very user-friendly for someone new to marketing automation. Their tutorial and help documents are simple and straightforward.
  • Marketo has endless options when it comes to the type of campaign you set up. From a nurture campaign, to events, it seems to have it all.
  • Marketo allows us to pull reports seamlessly and provide detailed analytics as to how our campaigns are doing compared to others.
  • The email templates in Marketo could use some work.
  • I wish there was an over-arching calendar that allows Marketo users to see what their department is sending out on a given day. It can be hard to keep track of all the scheduled emails.
  • I wish Marketo would integrate with Salesforce Opportunities instead of just Contacts and Leads.
  • Lead Management
  • Prospecting / New Business
Our goal is for leads to come into our system and then apply to one of our many educational programs and courses. This, in the end, increases our overall revenue for the department and University. Marketo is great at being our starting point for new leads. If they request information, they are automatically entered into our nurture email campaign. From there, we can track their activity and lead them through the process based on their actions.
I'm still looking into other options. We use Salesforce and I'm curious if other products (specifically Salesforce products) would have a smoother integration.
Marketo is awesome when trying to nurture a large number of prospects and leads, and supporting a sales team that needs help in prioritizing who to contact personally. It integrates with Salesforce, which is the program our sales team uses. This allows them to see the leads' actions within the marketing campaigns, without having to log in to Marketo or have a seat in Marketo.

Using Marketo

1 - I'm currently the sole user of Marketo in my organization for our marketing needs.
2 - We have an in-house IT person who acts as our admin, but then we also use a digital agency which contains marketo certified experts to help us when we uncover issues, or if we need help setting up new streams.
  • Email marketing
  • Lead nurturing
  • Integration with Salesforce
  • Entering in leads that we get from conferences, that syncs directly to Salesforce
  • We'd like to connect more with our alumni through email nurturing and newsletters.
We're currently exploring other options. We really like Marketo, but we are also interested to see what others are doing with marketing automation.
  • Increased communication to our leads
  • Lead nurturing and answering questions
