Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Entra ID

We use Microsoft Entra ID as our minimum identity and access management platform. It serves as a great base for both Microsoft 365 tools and third-party applications, such as HelloID. As we use everything Microsoft for our laptops, it is easy to have the same products from the same company. Because our laptops run on Microsoft Windows, we can utilize features like Single Sign-on and also implement multi-factor authentication for added security.

Pros

  • Single Sign-on helps ease the user experience, allowing users to avoid typing multiple passwords.
  • The identity and management are straightforward to use and easy to connect to other applications, as well as third-party applications.
  • The support of remote work. Nowadays, many people work from home and need to access their accounts. Microsoft Enterprise ID gives secure access to the company data.

Cons

  • The lack of in-depth reporting and custom alerts. The logs and reports are of a fundamental level. Now, you need an additional application to explore features like tracking unauthorized access attempts in-depth.
  • For new users, to fully utilize the potential of Microsoft Entra ID, a comprehensive course is necessary to learn everything.
  • The password self-service portal, when users attempt to change their password and it doesn’t work, doesn’t always provide a clear error message, so they don't know what to do and need the IT department's help.
  • Security and compliance have a positive impact because they ensure a secure and safe environment, preventing data and password leaks that can result in financial losses.
  • Because of the third-party connect feature, we have HelloID integrated, so we don’t have to create users and roles by hand.
  • The scalability and flexibility have a positive impact. So if the business grows, Microsoft Entra ID grows with it, which is great because there is no limit on users, and therefore you don’t have to buy another application if you grow too fast.
We have a hybrid environment, which combines on-premises and cloud-based solutions. We have a local service that runs Active Directory, and we have Microsoft Entra ID. Regarding account creation, we utilize a third-party service called Hello ID, which has automated the entire process.
We have a
couple of non-Microsoft applications that we have connected to Microsoft Entra
ID. Almost all the applications we use are SaaS applications integrated with Microsoft Entra ID. The easy way to connect SaaS applications to Microsoft Entra ID gives us a secure feeling that it is hard to hack, and provides an easy way for end-users to log in to the application.
We have Ximmio, AFAS, Qliksense, and a safety dashboard. We have an application running on a VM, and end users log in to that VM.
Yes, the
end users don’t have to type their password for every application. It involves single sign-on or the use of the laptop's PIN code. And if verification is required, the Microsoft MFA app will appear, allowing them to verify their account. It will eventually save them time in the long run.
I haven't used other products like Microsoft Entra ID.

Yes

For one, a significant factor for us is that it is integrated with HelloID, which gives us, as the IT department, a lot of time back because we don’t need to create user accounts manually. It is great for the roles we have defined, as they can be used repeatedly. A great feature is that guest accounts can be created for external users; we only need to be in a closed area of your domain.
