Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Exchange
We use Microsoft Exchange in our organization to manage and send outbound emails from our on-premise servers. We have a hybrid environment and it's not always practical for mail to be sent from non-Microsoft servers through M365 due to limitations of the cloud. Using Exchange allows us to granularly apply options and specific parameters that M365 doesn't permit.
- SMTP is reliable
- Ease of use
- Redundancy, reliability
- Logging
- Updates and security can be improved
- Migration can be difficult
- Backup and recovery can be difficult
- Ease of use
- Compatability
- Reliability
- Positive - reliable and has lots of support
- Positive - familiarity with most IT professionals
- Negative - when it fails, it fails hard and is time consuming
Most IT professionals understand Microsoft Exchange... getting a Linux expert or Google expert can be more challenging. Choosing Microsoft Exchange meant having access to a vast array of talent that understood the system if something went wrong, versus having to learn another system and re-inventing the wheel. Each system has its pros and cons depending on your needs, so it's difficult to "stack them".
