Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Power BI
Microsoft Power BI is being used across the whole organisation and it successfully organises data from difference sources (ERP, Excel Sheets, CRM etc) and presents it graphically and powerfully.
- You can use dashboards to clearly show the general picture but very easily drill down into a lot of detail.
- The program is constantly being updated with new features, new ways of displaying data and new UI experience.
- There is good help and community support which helps in learning how to use the tool.
- Sharing reports and dashboards is a bit of a complex system and could be improved.
- Better tutorials around building a clean dataset and joining tables in the best way would be helpful.
- We find that the per-user pricing is a bit restrictive and would prefer to have a company subscription.
- You can't save versions of a report/dashboard.
- The number of scheduled refreshes per day is limiting although seems to be improving over time. It would be good to have the option of refresh every 5 minutes at least (depending on the amount of data needing refreshing).
I have only used reporting and dashboards within our software programs, not used any other 3rd party service so can't comment too much. We went with Power BI because we knew it integrated well with our ERP and is backed by a large and progressive company so is likely to keep improving.
