Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Project

We use Microsoft Project to manage new product launches, engineering changes and supplier transitions.

Pros

  • Team collaboration
  • Create To-Do plans
  • Advanced scheduling
  • Task management

Cons

  • Integrate "Agile" methodologies functions like Jira/Miro
  • Incorporate burn down charts
  • Provide quick and easy tutorials to integrate Power BI and Copilot
  • Positive: Better Tracking and Reporting
  • Positive: Enhanced Collaboration
  • Negative: Licenses fees
  • Negative: Complexity
  • Negative: Training costs
Microsoft Project contains comprehensive features which allow us to plan, track and reporting; but I really feel that we spend so much time trying to teach others how to use it.
Jira and Miro are very visual, they provide us a very friendly interface (specially Miro), and in the case of Jira, it give us very customizable workflows that suit team needs.

Do you think Microsoft Project delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Microsoft Project's feature set?

No

Did Microsoft Project live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Microsoft Project go as expected?

No

Would you buy Microsoft Project again?

No

I personally prefer Microsoft Planner or Jira.
I think is very intuitive, easy to use and have a lot of drag and drop options; which we appreciate when we use with people with a lot of experience in the company (older team members).

Evaluating Microsoft Project and Competitors

  • Other
Microsoft Project is a classic in every global company, and I think that was the reason my IT department chose it. But once you start using other platforms that integrate Agile functions, you always keep in mind how great it would be to have these functionalities in Microsoft Project
I definitely wouldn't buy Microsoft Project
