Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Advanced Email Security

After initially depending on O365 filters only we were consistently flooded with Spam and Phishing attacks regardless of how hard our security admin worked to respond. Through the use of Mimecast Advanced Email Security this has fallen to next to zero. Additionally, by tracing failed messages we were able to find misconfigurations in our environment which had been affecting our client service.

Pros

  • Detection and blocking of dangerous content
  • Prescanning of links in e-mail
  • Enhanced ability to maintain block and permit lists
  • Detailed tracking of messages and event

Cons

  • The user interface is not always as intuitive as I would like
  • Client Service is slow to respond even to P1 requests
  • By separating the wheat from the chaff so to speak, we can focus on important e-mail as opposed to junk.
  • We are regularly able to demonstrate the volume of e-mails and the amount of content blocked.
  • We have not had a single machine take-over as the result of a user clicking on a dangerous link.
While very effective once configured, it is not intuitive from the start. Where to do something is not always clear and the documentation is not always high quality. This said, once you have learned the platform, it is 100% reliable and will produce repeatable results. The details of logging and audit tracking are easy to access and to follow.
Mimecast Advanced Email Security was our first and only choice from past experience with the project elsewhere.
As described in previous answers, Mimecast Advanced Email Security achieved all of our goals more than successfully. IT reduced our overall administrative costs and allows us to focus on other security concerns.

There is no question as to the value of the product to the business and the disruption of changing vendors would not be worth any savings possibly achieved by switching.

Evaluating Mimecast Advanced Email Security and Competitors

The cloud based platform allows us to not have to maintain and scale internal infrastructure as we share it with thousand of other organizations. Additionally, because the use is designed to be simple enough for all users there were no challenges in adoption.
We might, not would, consider some Microsoft Cloud Product that tightly support M365; but Mimecast Advanced Email Security does do an extraordinary job of this already.

Mimecast Advanced Email Security Support

As with most vendors these days, emphasis is placed on offline communication and wait times for phone calls are longer than I would like. This said, any time that I have had a P1 issue response has been prompt and effective.

Due to economic pressures we did not purchase premium support and this is reflected in response times. However, as I have stated elsewhere, when it is critical they treat our issues with the same priority as any premium customer.
We went through a last minute acquisition and migration of e-mail systems. Mimecast was there for us to ensure that we were successful. Instead of telling us to "read the manual" they patiently assisted our team in getting the job done.
