Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Advanced Email Security

We use Mimecast Advanced Email Security to provide a external messaging hygiene filtering service before email hits O365 and This provides us with far greater visibility and control over our mailflow than relying on Microsoft's inbuilt filtering options. The message tracing, Greylisting, phish reporting options, and end user's personal portals are all excellent in Mimecast Advanced Email Security and are well liked by administrators, support staff and end users

Cons

  • Reporting generally is a bit on the basic side
  • The web admin portal as a bit idiosincratic
  • The requirement to contact support for auth'd SMTP setup is a pain
  • Less service desk time on phishing reporting
  • Less false positives
  • Reduction of the amount of malicious messages reaching end users
As an admin it's fine, the console has some slightly annoying quirks (having to to go all the way back to the top when making changes rather than being able to just go up one level for example) and the object orientated nature of it takes some getting your head around how it thinks. But generally speaking it's decent enough once you've used it for a couple of hours
We have only really integrated it with ExchangeOnline and Outlook so not much to add here

The old product was at the end of it's life and wasn't really being actively developed so it was a fairly easy switch and gave us a large number of features that were missing.

As a well respected filtering service Mimecast Advanced Email Security is generally very good, it can take a bit of bedding in. Reporting is basic so if you want in-depth customized reports it isn't ideal, but if you want a very robust filter with some very nice options it is excellent.
