Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Advanced Email Security
We use Mimecast Advanced Email Security for email spam and malware filtering, as well as for email encryption for emails containing sensitive information. As a bank, it is imperative that we protect our customer information and prevent phishing emails from reaching our staff.
Pros
- Automatically encrypting outgoing emails containing sensitive information
- Preventing specific attachment types from being delivered
- Delivering a digest of quarantined spam emails to users at specific intervals
Cons
- Preventing spam from reaching users
- Preventing phishing emails from reaching users
- Using behavioral-based algorithms to prevent malicious emails
- Customer service for support tickets; truly caring that an issue is resolved
- Confusing policy configurations
- We've had to beef up training and other email security tools because we get too many spam and phishing emails still with Mimecast Advanced Email Security in place. This is costing us at least an extra 15% annually in staff time and tooling than it should.
- We have been pleased with data loss prevention with Mimecast Advanced Email Security, it does identify PII and auto-encrypts emails with PII effectively.
- It does have the ability to integrate with other security tools via API, which is beneficial.
Yes, we migrated from Microsoft's product to Mimecast Advanced Email Security.
We mainly moved because, in our opinion, Microsoft did a terrible job of preventing spam and phishing, and also because customers complained about not being able to open encrypted emails from us (Microsoft's tool is confusing). We have been pleased with the email encryption piece, and feel that Mimecast Advanced Email Security is better than Microsoft in many ways.
In my opinion, Mimecast Advanced Email Security outpaces Microsoft in terms of usability and reduction of spam and phishing emails. Mimecast Advanced Email Security was cheaper than Proofpoint, but I suspect Proofpoint is doing better on staying current with trends than Mimecast Advanced Email Security. I think Abnormal offers the best incoming email security, but does not offer outgoing email data loss prevention or encryption, which is a key use cast for us.
