Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro for different use cases:
- As engineers we diagram a lot so we use it to prototype diagrams
- As managers we use it for roadmapping and communication within and across teams
- As collaborators we use it to run online meetings and gather key ideas
- As people working with agile processes we use it as a tool to facilitate our ceremonies

Generally we use it when more people are involved and we have to put ideas together, sort things out and refine the chaotic information that gets generated on a daily basis.

Pros

  • Good diagramming support
  • Good support for managing lots of content at the same time
  • Versatility : we can use it for almost anything, if you wanna draw it, Miro has it

Cons

  • Including boards inside of boards. Some times we see them as boards, sometimes we see them as links. It is very inconsistent
  • Lately we've had some stability issues. You don't want to be locked out of your presentation material just before the presentation
  • Offline caching of resources would be fantastic
  • Reduced friction in collaboration
  • Easier to manage diagrams we share when designing new solution
  • A good tool for enabling agile
Miro is one of the main tools we use to sketch out ideas, make plans, handle simple plans and gather feedback during meetings.

The ability to not only use it as a post-it board but also the ability to import shapes and scale indefinitely (or at least better than what we require) is a huge advantage.

Atlassian Confluence, LeanIX Enterprise Architecture Management (EAM), GitLab
Miro is great for almost anything that you need sketched, sorted, for collaboration and for visually structuring data. It integrates very well with most industry standard tools like Teams, Confluence, etc and it provides all the functionality you need to manage most of the daily work of working with digital both as an engineer and as a manager.

Be aware that the information is not hosted locally and you do not have full control over it. A situation where we're not allowed to Miro in our organisation is whenever we handle personal data, that of customers or of our colleagues. This might not be an issue for you depending on where in the world you are. This might be a GDPR side effect.
