Overall Satisfaction with Miro

I use Miro for almost all of my work. It allows me to brainstorm and organise my thoughts without the pressure of having to keep things within a word count, paragraph or content format. It is also easily the best tool for collaborative working on content, workshopping ideas and bringing together distributed teams.

Pros

  • Bringing order to spontaneous thoughts
  • Distributed workshops
  • Structuring presentations
  • Planning

Cons

  • Bringing the Sections functionality through all of the product to allow better Info Architecture
  • Gradients
  • Adding support for Google and Adobe fonts
  • Has greatly decreased the lead time between an idea and a final product
  • We ran a national training course through Miro that would have saved thousands of dollars in travel if we were going to do it in person
  • The use of Miro for low complexity projects removes the need for other more expensive planning and alignment tools
It's very easy to use both in Browser and in App. The mobile app is also very usable for minor work or for viewing a pre-made board.

The only thing that I have issues with is the detection of Mouse vs Trackpad but that's very minor
The infinite canvas as a concept is possibly the most impacting - you aren't limited to a specific shape or size for the starting of thinking which helps me to feel less constrained and generates more ideas.

The new Planner tool is also an incredible feature that I am using to plan and size work regularly.
I still use PowerPoint to develop final high quality presentations. This is because I have more control over layers and content, access to files, use of gradients and reusability of assets.
Miro is the chosen tool of my organisation. However it is easily the best of these with a good cross section of functionality.

I have also used Microsoft Whiteboard in clients that do not allow Miro in their environment - there is no contest.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

Well suited:
- fully online workshops and planning sessions
- pre-development of presentations and proposals
- individual and team brainstorming/note taking

Not as well suited:
- High quality final presentations
- Hybrid workshops and planning where the disconnect between people physically present and online is still not well bridged (nor can it really be) but Miro probably does the best job at this
