A Collaborator's Dream, Albeit Marred By Intense and Overwhelming Intricacies
Overall Satisfaction with MS SharePoint
We use MS SharePoint as a collaborative tool for sharing documents and archiving information/files both internally and externally with our clients. The service itself is very useful in a number of ways, especially for interfacing with team members who may not have immediate access to the office, or for clients traveling abroad. It also serves the purpose of customization and ease-of-use we were looking for in a collaborative file-sharing tool.
Pros
- Effective hosted-file sharing technology.
- Multiple access points for users, regardless of their location.
- Serves well as a database for information sharing as well, such as an FAQ database or wiki library.
Cons
- It can be incredibly overwhelming for novice users.
- The user interface seems more complicated and "busy".
- User permissions can sometimes become a hassle to manage and maintain.
- Increased employee and process efficiency across the board.
- Better customer service and client support situations for timely turnarounds.
- Simplified collaboration both internally and externally for the agency.
- Dropbox for Business and Google Drive
Ultimately we are an agency that makes everyday use of the Microsoft Office Suite, Exchange Servers and O365 Email Services, so it only made sense to go with MS SharePoint based on its great integrations with these other systems. It fills a much-needed gap in the agency, allowing for collaboration without the headache of faulty or poor integrations between our other main service tools.
