Use Cases and Deployment Scope

MS Sharepoint is heavily used in storing un-controlled documents as a library tool. I am the administrator for our department and it helps to be able to control what folders are shared outside of our department.

Pros and Cons

Library search
Folder organization
Controlled view access/write access
Permission request is just a click
Permission grants done via email notification

Structure of shared via parent folder or individual is difficult to determine until you dig through settings
Sometimes grant access does not get executed and would need to be redone

Return on Investment

Versioning control when you have multi users can get tedious as to what was last worked on
Control access within the department once groups are set is easy
When a folder or file is individually modified access differently from the parent is hard to track

Alternatives Considered

Have used Box and MS Team which is add on to MS Sharepoint.
