Overall Satisfaction with New Relic

Our teams think the use case is there and practical for an average user.
We use New Relic to monitor our DevOps code and identify any bugs or performance issues.

Pros

  • We get alerts if there are any problems on our website.
  • We ingest data to make sure our development is fine.
  • We stay ahead of fixing problems before our end users tell us there are issues.

Cons

  • Their pricing is lazy and they default to higher priced terms at renewal.
  • They have had high turnover with sales and account managers who don't follow our business.
  • They don't allow their product to be purchased on Google Cloud Marketplace.
  • We spend six figures on this solution to avoid costs of a broken website.
  • We could save more on cloud services (GCP, Azure, AWS) if New Relic allowed its licenses to be purchased through other marketplaces.
  • New Relic handles some of the same operations that higher priced competitors do.
Data Dog has solutions that look more attractive, but not at their price point. We have also tried to build a solution straight from the Cloud, where our business is built, but some things are too hard to replicate. This shows that New Relic is useful and helps our efficiency.

Do you think New Relic delivers good value for the price?

No

Are you happy with New Relic's feature set?

Yes

Did New Relic live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of New Relic go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy New Relic again?

No

For the price, it's an okay solution, but I would advise building your own if you have Google Cloud or Azure. Monitoring tools are good, but you can find cheaper alternatives that do most of the same functions.
