Overall Satisfaction with New Relic
New Relic is the main Observability tool in our organization. We are using New Relic in so many types of business and technical problems those are like Infrastructure monitoring, Frontend monitoring, Backend Monitoring, Database Monitoring, Network monitoring and also Business data monitoring like Trend of revenue, Login failures of any applications etc.With the help of New Relic we can easily monitor the exact problem statement like where is the exact issue, when it occurs and what is the possible way to resolve that. It also helps us to monitor the revenue growth as well as we are also using this to monitor the count of active and inactive users.
Pros
- Its Kubernetes monitoring feature, through the help of New Relic K8s monitoring feature we just need to run a single command in the K8s environment then it will gives use all the data related to that cluster We don't have to add any other agent on that like other tolls and also it has default dashboards for the Kubernetes which helps us to easily monitor the K8s.
- New Relic's Dashboarding feature which helps us to visualize the data in a better way, It has a wide range of default widget types as well as custom widget types. It also supports the custom visualization through Nerdpack which helps us to show the data in a better way.
- The pipeline control feature of New Relic which they have recently launched, it helps us to control the data flow to New Relic as per our requirements which is used to reduce the ingestion cost. Due to this we can also increases the focus on the exact data points.
Cons
- NRQLs of New Relic taking too much time to show the data, so I believe Relic can improve on this. As NRQLs are playing a big role in New Relic which helps us to show the data, but due to its slow performance it is taking to much time to create any valid dashboard.
- The distributed tracing feature of New Relic, currently it supports only for APM, Browser, functions, Lambda. So New Relic can expand the distributed tracing capabilities for other services as well.
- It gives me so many positive impacts like through New Relic I can easily identify my root cause of errors in my application which helps usto reduce the MTTD and MTTR.
- It also gives us business related data like if i have passed business related data through log API then I can show the business related data also in dashboards with a better visualization.
- Now a days New Relic query section becomes slow, whenever we are querying anything then it is taking too much time which is irritating us. when we are any high priority task and we need things as soon as possible then it quite challenging.
New Relic impacted in a very positive manner by giving us telemetry data related to my applications. Once we integrate my application frontend backedn databases, etc hen it gives us data for all the layers and it also provides all the errors data whenever they occurs. With the help of its synthetic monitor we can proactively monitor our websites availabilty and that will help us to tract the errors before they occurs in real with end users.
Yes, New Relic helps in migration and reducing the cost. Once we integrate resources to New Relic, then it will gives us all the data related to that service like if we have integrated the aws cloud services or any on prem services then it will give us the telemetry data related to that, through that data we can easily identify that our service is under utilize or over utilize. Once we know the exact state then we can scale our services accordingly like this manner it helps us reducing teh cost inside any organization.
Yes our DevOps organization took benefit from the New Relic. Once we have integrated the services with New Relic and created alerts, dashboards, service levels etc on that, then our devops team is checking those dashboards data and then easily idnetify the exact issue of that service and then can easily scale their services as per the requirement so that it saves t
New Relic continuously focusing on Open Telemetry and agentic AI integrations which is helping users to focus on the latest technology and as we all know that in future Observability will be mostly on OTel concept and AI driven and New Relic focusing on those area.
Apart from this New Relic continuously focusing on the tool improvements they are sending updates according to that, it is also giving us data on less price as compare to its competitors .
