Overall Satisfaction with Newswire

We use it for clients that want to increase the visibility of an event, product, or service. In some cases, we look at it as a basis to generate other media. Clients use the press release on their social media to attract followers who may not read the mainstream media or be on their online feeds.
  • Newswire has nationwide coverage.
  • They provide metrics.
  • Their editorial services provide guidance when needed.
  • Pick ups tend to be the same outlets no matter the content of the press release.
  • When a location or region is cited as a preference the coverage in that region can be spotty.
  • More emphasis on news apps as opposed to mainstream media. Fewer young people use MSM.
  • Most valuable is keeping a company in the public/business radar.
  • There is an increase in online traffic to websites.
  • There is a cumulative effect on the trust given to companies with a stronger online presence.
It is straightforward to use. My only addition would be it would be nice to have a pre-select and price system. Quite often, a client will ask what the cost will be; without being able to put in distribution, media, and other variables, it can be hard to give a firm price, so it sometimes comes down to an estimate.
To be honest, they are very similar in many ways. Business Wire, for example, is more focused on business news as opposed to other types of news. Newswire has a more general and broader application. Other news services like Bloomberg are only interested if the company is traded on one of the stock markets.

As a general rule, press releases announcing an event are more effective than product or corporate business deals press releases. This may be because events are people-centered and tend to be one of a kind. The interest in a new product, unless it is an upgrade to an existing product line or service, attracts little attention. There are exceptions; if, for example, there is an outbreak of some pathogen and the company is working on a solution, then interest is higher. News has to be related to current concerns.
