Overall Satisfaction with Nintex
We are still very much dipping our toes into the 'Nintex platform water,' as it were. Still, we already see benefits with workflow processes that can be customized beyond the out-of-the-box SharePoint experience. Nintex was recommended to us by our 3rd party SharePoint developers, who have been with us on the journey to transform a standard 'SharePoint' into a one-stop shop for all staff across the business. The workflows are easy to set up using their drag-and-drop methodology, and the forms even take the Adobe-created forms to the next level. The internal policy mandated a traditional On-Premise SharePoint Farm, and we are excited that Nintex recognizes this in their product offering by still supporting On-Premise Farms (SharePoint). The next step is to digitize our remaining paper forms and build more workflows. This is what I am excited about.
Pros
- Nintex Forms.
- Drag/drop workflow creation.
- Read existing forms and convert them.
Cons
- I haven't encountered any areas with room for improvement yet.
- People have woken up to the amount of overlap after mapping their processes.
- People can be resistant to process changes. You need to have the support from above or support from the 'business' that you are process changing to be able to see the positive impacts.
- Numbers talk. if you can get a general salary figure from your HR dept to show savings for 'employee bands', then when you present reports, they will be all the richer in data.
Aside from the integration to Entra AD, we haven't used any other integration yet. We are looking into SharePoint integration to take advantage of the direct process mapping report we can share, but it is still in its infancy. Still, we are looking forward to deploying this when resourcing allows.
Entra AD syncing takes the ease out of removing and adding staff as they start and finish.
Xmind was great for mind mapping, but when I tried to use it as a process mapper, I found it was rather lacking. It has its uses, but process mapping (at least for us in our stage and phase of mapping) was not up to the task, unfortunately. We didn't have any other software we compared against it. We chose the Nintex process platform as we had had integration previously with SharePoint farm on-premise with the epic form builder, but as we migrated to the cloud, it made sense to keep things with the one company.
