Overall Satisfaction with Nutanix
We use Acropolis for our business critical trading solutions in our Frankfurt data centre. This provides us with control over a remote office with minimal overhead and no middleware software like VMware to manage.
- Very light weight and simple to use. No need for VMware or Hyper V software to configure and manage so reducing complexity.
- Management interface is simple to use meaning training of support staff is kept easy.
- Rapid deployment of servers. So quick you don't even have time for a coffee break.
- Storage v-motion is still a little weak and if your system is heavily used a little self management is needed.
- Performance monitoring has come a long way over the last 2 years but future enhancements in deep diving issues would be useful.
- Storage usage reporting is still weak but no more so than other platforms. Understanding how many space is being consumed vs space committed is always an issue when compression and thin provisioning is used.
- With the cost of VMware being removed that's is a big saving.
- Management overheads are reduced meaning engineers have more time to do project work and less time is spent on managing the system.
- Being resource light weight enables maximum resources to be used at the business end.
We chose Nutanix as the configuration options were varied and we could pick the system that fit us rather than a system that was too big or just not quite right. Delivery was quick and since installation - support has been fantastic.
