Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Database

We are a hospital. We use Oracle Database for all our in-house development (HIS, electronic records, Invoice, data warehouse). We develop a lot in PL/SQL and this makes it very simple to have it all in the same place.
  • Fast
  • SQL and PL/SQL are very powerful
  • New releases have very nice features like compression, obfuscation, XML and JSON
  • License is sometimes is very expensive
  • A very good DBA is always needed to solve daily issues
  • Help online
  • we can trust in our database and feel out data is safe
  • Develop in PL/SQL .Is stable, easy and fast and we have no "new releases" problems
Sensitive data
24/7 operations
Solid database
Need for speed and performance
Not good for Big Data scenarios

Oracle Database Support

The product is very good but when you need help it's very difficult. Oracle must have a database with all the customers' configuration so we don't lose a lot of time answering questions. We finally contract with a premium DBA to solve all our issues.
ProsCons
Kept well informed
Support understands my problem
Support cares about my success
Slow Resolution
Poor followup
Less knowledgeable
Problems left unsolved
Escalation required
Difficult to get immediate help
Yes - No - We finally decided not to report anything because we wasted a lot of time and got bad results.
Never. Perhaps the main problem is that we are in Argentina, South America and we never have a good representative or someone that can help us besides Oracle support. In my opinion, Oracle Database is excellent, but the way they deal with customers is very poor and support is very bureaucratic and slow.
