Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

We use Paylocity for payroll processing across our church and school organizations. While we don't use Paylocity for time card tracking, all other payroll processes are handled within the software. It has eliminated the extra steps of cutting paper checks and submitting tax payments to government entities. And benefits entities are paid outside Paylocity software.

Pros

  • Direct Deposit
  • Tax calculations and payments directly to tax authorities
  • Auto pay of salaried employees

Cons

  • Multiple supplementary pay categories for individuals - have to enter those manually
  • exporting of GL entries for our accounting software - have never gotten it to match correctly
  • More consistent processes
At times it has expedited payroll processes, but because of issues with syncing reports to our accounting system, it has added time to the process of getting information onto our books. That must be done manually now, where before we did not have to do that.

Paylocity works much more seamlessly than the previous software we used. It works well for a company or organization with employees filling a single function, but lacks flexibility to account for individuals who earn supplementary income such as school teachers who also fill lunchroom duty and coaching responsibilities. In those cases, a single extra category can be accommodated by the system, but the second category must be entered manually, making for a clunky, slower process with more possibility for error.
