Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

We use Paylocity for HR, payroll, taxes, and benefits.

Pros

  • Tax Verification
  • BLS reports already created

Cons

  • Timeliness of updating tax rates
  • Paylocity not finalizing Q4 or W2s until payroll has a chance to review & release
  • Allowing customers time to enter YE TPSP before finalizing W2s to avoid costs for W2Cs and amendments
  • Customer Service - sometimes it takes days to get a response
  • Reporting for FSA on ER Portal - I don't want to see EXPECTED Payroll Deduction, I want a report that shows the ACTUAL deduction
  • Benefit Reconciliation Report that is accurate. We were told by rep not to use!!!
  • Allow more administrators to receive emails pertaining to taxes (quarterly, annual, issues, etc.), direct deposit returns. Absolutely insane that only the CAO receives these and not the Payroll Administrator.
  • Allow payroll administrators to update SUI rates so we don't have variances every 1Q and we don't have to hear "we're very busy since it's year-end and we need to get 4Q and W2s done."
  • Doesn't calculate benefits arrears nor have a box to enter one time benefit correction
  • I do so much more manual entry than I have with other products
In my opinion, Paylocity has not been automated enough for payroll - benefit earnings & deductions should calculate back to enrollment date or termination date. I spend the majority of payroll processing time entering correct ER & EE benefit amounts one employee at a time.
Paylocity requires more manual work than the other products I've used. Except when it comes to SUI rates, at least with the other products I could update the rates myself instead of emailing to Paylocity who emails to Tax Team who then enters the new rate; and it's extremely frustrating to see an incorrect rate entered. This is the first product I have ever used where I didn't have the opportunity to review and release quarterly taxes before company files on our behalf.

It's not very user friendly for payroll
