Overall Satisfaction with Paylocity

We use Paylocity for many things in our organization and utilize HR details within the employee profiles, payroll, the compensation module, recruiting, onboarding, background checks (through the Paylocity platform, using Checkr), performance reviews, time and labor, and even the community module where our staff has groups and awards 'impressions' to team members who do an outstanding job.

Pros

  • HR & Payroll
  • Community feature
  • Articles & help features

Cons

  • Paylocity representatives- for example, I can call three times and sometimes get three different answers (not always, but more than once)
  • PTO implementation- it is a very complicated process of course, but using our Floating Holiday accrual as an example, despite calling in a ton of times somehow it was not selected on the back end to reduce the accrued hours when someone took the time off, leading to employees taking more than they should have been able to. It should be a given that when an employee is only allotted a certain amount of time, the balance should decrease.
  • Employer admins should be able to impersonate their employee profile to best navigate employee issues that come up. I have used Paycom in the past and this feature was crucial in being able to best assist employees with as little hassle to them as possible.
  • efficient payroll
  • efficient onboarding and recruiting features
  • consistent processes
One feature that I added was switching from our third party background check to utilizing Checkr within the Paylocity recruiting platform. That switch was more cost effective and so much more convenient for both the candidate and myself. The payroll process was also easy for me to learn, and I was able to utilize the retroactive pay feature that had not been used before.
Community is something I would like to get better at utilizing. We tried to make it more popular within our organization, but it seemed as though people would reply in a group once and then not revisit it ever again. Impressions have been utilized more often than they used to, so hopefully we can increase that in the new year.

Yes

Are you happy with Paylocity's feature set?

Yes

Did Paylocity live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Paylocity go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Paylocity again?

Yes

Paylocity has a lot of helpful webinars that are friendly and welcoming, always encouraging people to network. Even if there are different answers depending on what representative answers, I never feel like a burden contacting them again for more information. The Data Insights are amazing and so helpful, and I always found it fascinating and useful. I also enjoy the report center functionality. The surveys included in the library are very detailed, and follow up questions change based on employee answers which was awesome to have for the Stay Interview. I really love the surveys! The reps are always willing to help, or to look deeper into the issue if they do not know a solution off hand. I do believe that more training in the PTO accruals and mapping needs to be more thoroughly trained, specifically because of the hassle that it was to implement our floating holidays and paid time off for part-time employees. It took more phone calls, emails, and back and forth than I can even begin to explain, and even now- 5 months later- I am still working out the kinks. Overall I am happier with the Paylocity system than I ever was with Paycom. I hope to continue learning the system and getting better at navigating all of its features. Despite some minor issues along the way, I am satisfied with the system and will not be searching to replace it any time soon.
