Overall Satisfaction with Planview AdaptiveWork

We recently transitioned back to using Planview AdaptiveWork. Over the last year we have been using a different tool provided by a consulting company while we were in the early staged of a potential merger. Now that the merger is official we are beginning to track our projects again in Planview AdaptiveWork. I am the administrator for this platform. We are in the processes of loading all our projects into Planview AdaptiveWork and will be utilizing reporting, dashboards, project plans. We want to be able to present robust efficient and effective reporting for the organization. Capacity planning and agile place are two main focus points for us at this time.
  • robust product that seems to be all inclusive
  • enhancing the platform
  • keeping up with technology
  • advanced integration with several partners
  • In the hybrid cards version there is not a way to use the resource filed as a sort/card lane, it would be nice to be able to use this field to view tasks assigned to a resource all in one column/lane.
  • I haven't used the Risk and Issues portion much, but plan to. It seems odd to me that I have to click out to a new section to track these items for a project.
  • I'd like to see the meeting notes enhanced a bit so that you can copy the last agenda forward with unfinished tasks and or action items
  • Having reports readily available for executives to give insight on the number of project in flight is valuable and helps with decision making on starting or stopping projects.
  • We are just in the infancy stage of capacity planning, from the demos and conversations we have had this will enhance our project governance further by giving insight into where resources will be needed for the critical projects.
I have configured several custom fields to allow us to report and separate on projects in many levels. We have unique phases, several strategies and categories we need projects to report in. The customization aspect is amazing and allows us to be unique in reporting and dashboarding. Also the customization was curtail when we began our merger and the other organization had separate goals, job titles, etc. this allowed us to create matching fields for each organization and compare and/or combine like categories.
Reporting and dashboards are endless, if you have the field you can report on it. I can say enough about this, I can get lost in reporting and dashboarding. I have not run across any reports or dashboard request that we could not produce. I am looking forward to getting into the enterprise level roadmaps.
We have integrated with Okta, which is great for SSO. We are looking at AD/Azure integration, ServiceNow and/or Jira, SharePoint and AgilePlace for starters.
Planview AdaptiveWork brings visibility to the amount of work that needs to be done, that has been complete, project that are at risk and so much more. I believe we will begin to see the most impact in 2024 as we continue to build out capacity planning, additional reporting and leverage some of the other features and functionality.
Using the Work Plans for projects is a great tool to gauge the project process, identify and ensure the project tasks as well as project manager administrative work is being completed on time.
I like that Planview AdaptiveWork is the full gamot for project, program and portfolio management. Building project plans, tracking tasks risks and issues, and being able to roll all of it up into comprehensive reports and dashboards is awesome. All of the new integrations points over the last year are exciting and I am looking forward to implementing some of them to enhance our experience.

Would you buy Planview AdaptiveWork again?

Yes

Planview AdaptiveWork is a robust project management tool, the sky is the limit. There are numerous integrations point, endless reporting, we are just scratching the surface on where we will go with this. The levels of reporting by project, program and portfolio are amazing. It is great to have a tool that is a one stop shop and not have to leverage several software solutions to accomplish project tracking, reporting, capacity planning and with the flexibility of using waterfall vs. agile methodologies. The only problem is I don't have enough time to learn all of these amazing features fast enough.
