Overall Satisfaction with Planview Projectplace

This is an enterprise-level project management and team management tool for medium to larger organisations. Not for smaller companies. We assessed this for our creative agency earlier this year particularly for the document sharing feature and Gantt charts. Planview Projectplace is really comprehensive and feels like a mixture of QuickBooks Online and an older Microsoft product in the UX/UI department.
  • Planning a project with the Gantt chart - it feels like MS Project
  • Track documents and changes
  • Meeting integration with Zoom
  • More colours for the Gantt chart
  • Stronger colours and more contrast in the UI please
  • UX/UI feels dated, need more contrast and stronger colours resulted in lack luster uptake from the team
  • Too complex for a small company

Do you think Planview ProjectPlace delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Planview ProjectPlace's feature set?

Yes

Did Planview ProjectPlace live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Planview ProjectPlace go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Planview ProjectPlace again?

Yes

I didn't use the support, however the knowledge center, videos and training were more than enough to cover onboarding and using the system. I would have preferred more KB documents and less of the videos content to get people up to speed though. They have live chat, phone support and ticket system
Room for improvement here in my opinion on the usability. Everyone has their own taste, but this felt like an older Microsoft product or early version of the Joomla CMS. They need to work on the contrast ratio and use brighter colour in the UX/UI for future updates. The dashboards have to fit alot of information in one go, but I expect to be able to drag and rearrange the meetings, miles stone boxes, but everything is fixed.
Asana is a simpler system for managing tasks, teams, projects and documents. For our small size, we decided Planview Projectplace was too big a system to use and opted for Asana. If you're a larger organisation this might be a good fit for you with the enterprise level of support and engineering.
Planview Projectplace is well suited for a medium to larger sized organisation where the team needs to track documents, projects tasks and issues in one place. As a smaller company it felt overkill, especially with the softer colour scheme. They would benefit from a more modern design or better choice of colours.
