Overall Satisfaction with Procore

I work for [...], an electrical tracing company, as a project engineer. I will look at other trade drawings, including architectural, electrical, mechanical, and Civil drawings. Procore is excellent at getting me from drawing to drawing with the embedded automatic links. This saves time very quickly. I also appreciate the submittal processes that are included in the application. The photos are a pretty big thing we use as well, and they are a dependable place to see what is accurately installed into the field.

Pros

  • Does well Emailing me (If i am subscribed to a project) to let me know when revisions have been updated.
  • Easy to navigate
  • Great at Allowing me as a project Engineer to Upload my drawings to Procore. Not a lot of steps, and very easy to do.

Cons

  • While uploading my drawings and simple, sometimes we don't always want to show all the drawings on the main page. So for Example, we break our jobs into areas, releases, or blocks of work (what ever may help you visualize).. and we have to go into documents, create a text box, and them attach a document link. I have no problem with this, but if there was some potential to make a sub drawings area or somewhere it may be easy to see all of "Project Engineering Drawings" or something of that area. Make it drawing number friendly.
  • I realize you guys have started a Beta of "Locations" on drawings. This is great, and maybe I need to look more into this. But it would be nice if you made a partnership with Open Space. Maybe you do this already, but.. We do our In-Wall as assemblies, and it would be very cool to be able to see a picture of my assemblies. I would then be able to accurately see as built of the architecture incase a drawing detail was not so clear for me. This is more of a suggestion, and a specific improvement. I just want to have a stronger connection with the site as we work remotely.
  • Assembly tags to put onto drawings would be interesting. As a Project Engineer, I feel disconnected from the field (as stated in the previous suggestion). I want the field to be able to use a way to check off Actual items we send out through Procore. You could then provide an "installed, not installed, or waiting for ..." options on these markups. This could then plug into a percentage complete in area or "Block of work" as stated in the first point I made. And further plugged into another Excel or Procore overall tracking sheet in Procore that can be exported weekly to track. Tracking is a pretty big deal to and I believe that I Procore can do this sooner than later. We have actually had to make one for [...] renovation and it was one of the most useful tools to use.
  • Procore should be able to give me notifications on Drawings, RFI's, Submittals etc. Like Facebook or Any other social media. Not just depending on Email Notifications.
  • Our company doesn't typically use the Scheduling here whereas we use either our Own Excel or SmartSheets.
  • Our Company doesn't use any sort of Pricing or Bidding tools that I am aware of.
  • Our company appreciates the Photos.
Excel has been a great tool to use. While we are able to use the clouded Excel access to update sheets live, this has been great at updating live sheets. Another tool that has been great to use has been the Procore links where I can attach any Link I want to a Project on its home page.
I don't really view open space as a competitor. But I do see it as a great as built source of information. Procore lacks giving me live as built information on Architecture (primarily) and other trades installation not being accurate to the drawings. I don't view it as a negative, but as a potential support that may help.
