Overall Satisfaction with Proofpoint Security Awareness Training (formerly Wombat Security)
We are utilizing the Proofpoint Security Awareness Training across all lines of business at this time. This platform allows us to educate our employees about various IT Security related threats that they are likely to encounter. We also use it for metrics as it relates to education improvement as well as compliance (for Cyber Security Insurance purposes).
Pros
- The modules are easy to follow and relatively quick to complete.
- The ability to integrate (read) data from our Active Directory really helps to import user lists into the program.
- Good variety of domains to select from for URLs inside of simulated Phishing emails.
Cons
- The lowest tier of Education modules is somewhat sparse. More modules are available if you select a higher one.
- The initial setup can be a bit time-consuming to get the user lists to configure/imported (based on OU).
- The initial setup can be a bit time-consuming to get the user lists to configure/imported (based on OU).
- The return on investment is a definite positive. This is an excellent platform for helping us to educate our end users about the dangers they face every day.
- The "PhishAlarm" add-in for Outlook is a HUGE time-saver for us. It easily allows our users to select an email and click "Report Phish", which then sends the message to our IT Security team (along with performing a high-level) evaluation of the email for known threats.
- The time it took to get our Proofpoint totally configured was mostly due to our "less than ideal" OU structure in Active Directory, but once we got everything configured, it sure saves us time.....which means it saves us money.
I think that Proofpoint Security Awareness Training pricing is one of the main reasons that we went with them. We only have the lowest tier, and it does a pretty good job for what we pay. We are using Proofpoint for our email security solution, so we ended up saving some money by bundling the two together (during our renewal of Proofpoint). Now that we have had Proofpoint Security Awareness Training for a little bit, we are looking into alternatives (such as Knowb4). This is primarily because there are more modules available (at the lowest tier) for about the same price as what we currently are spending on Proofpoint Security Awareness Training.
