Prophix - Mid-Implementation Perspective

We just began implementing Prophix this year. The plan is to use Prophix primarily for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. It will be used across the organization. One business problem that Prophix addresses is reducing errors in our budgeting process. We currently use spreadsheets for our budgeting process. With multiple people of various skill levels using them, the potential for critical errors, especially as the spreadsheets get more complex, is increasing. Another problem that Prophix addresses is personnel planning, which we do not currently have an efficient process to handle. Additionally, we are seeking more flexible reporting than our ERP or reporting software is capable of.

We are still in the process of automating this. We are close, but there have been some issues because we do not have a Microsoft SQL server (If I understand correctly). We have been using flat files and it is a bit of work to get current year activity updated. I think we are close on getting the data integrated on a daily basis. It has been difficult.

The feature is very important to us. I am looking forward to being just in the cloud. It just gives us more flexibility to use various devices to access our reports, make impromptu updates, or share information off site. Also, it will be nice to just use the cloud instead of having to use the desktop client for some features.
