Overall Satisfaction with Prophix
Prophix is primarily used for our consolidated corporate reporting. It is used primarily by our Finance teams. Our main cube performs consolidations and eliminations entries for high-level corporate reporting. Budget and forecast are input into the main cube for reporting against. We have an additional cube to track WIP for capital projects. A DPM cube is used for tracking personnel changes and planning.
- Easy format for quick query of data and analysis through Adhocs
- Ease of use in building processes to manipulate larger sets of data
- Consolidation and eliminations process need improvement - not great visibility for audit
- Report building can be messy for formatting. Small changes can break formats easy when updating reports.
- We have had 3 cube rebuilds, which has come at a large cost to us. I am unsure if this has been due to poor advice from Prophix, consultants, or lack of knowledge internally.
- We are currently not seeing the full value or ROI from Prophix as we are not using all features available to us. Once we are, I do see this product to be a positive investment and can potentially be a huge time saver for forecasting and budget.
95% of our data is imported from our ERP on a nightly basis. It seems to work quite seamlessly and is relatively easy to maintain. We also import from Excel sources. We do not import from other external sources at this time.
We currently have on-premise installation. Deployment flexibility is very important. In today's changing environment, cloud based solutions are the way forward, and the ability to migrate to that or have a hybrid solution is key.
I consider Prophix to be a smaller business solution compared with SAP. It has an easier interface, easier to maintain, but offers fewer features.
