Overall Satisfaction with Pure Storage FlashArray

We are using the FlashArray for handling our virtualization and SQL database workloads across our whole organization. We have about 400 virtual machines and 4 SQL database clusters. It allows us to not have to worry about performance or constant management. It has reduced our day to day management of storage down to virtually nothing.

Pros

  • Performs quickly
  • Easy to manage
  • Provides useful reporting

Cons

  • OS updates can be slow to resolve problems
  • Not all storage protocols are provided
  • Replication options could be greater
  • We are getting great dedupe and compression rates extending our dollar.
  • Saving time in management 10 fold. No experts needed for Pure, everything is easy.
  • PureOne is great for documentation and realtime stats on our array.
Dell and Netapp require constant touching and management in our experience. The Flash Array is the opposite of that. The monitoring that PureOne provides for free is also awesome and costs money from other competitors. The other vendors really didn't have a great answer to the evergreen model as well.
The FlashArray has been great for our rollout in virtualization and database. The dedupe and compression engines are second to none.
