Overall Satisfaction with Pure Storage FlashArray

We have implemented a couple of different models over the past two years and have been very pleased with the performance of each array. I am also very pleased with how easy it is to operate. No training was required and it is easier to manage than the other arrays that we currently have installed.

Pros

  • It is easy to create new volumes.
  • It is easy to add new hosts to an existing array.
  • It is easy to expand volumes.
  • Performance is great.

Cons

  • My only complaint is pricing.
  • Thanks to the deduplication that is built into the product we are seeing great reduction in total space required by consolidating similar data types on the same array.
  • Our users are very pleased with the performance.
  • The replication allowed us to move our workload from to another data center with minimal downtime.
The performance of the Pure arrays is better but there is a difference in products so it is not really a fair comparison since the other arrays have some flash and some slower drives. However, we have had nothing but good experiences when dealing with support on upgrades and drive replacements.
It is a great product for workloads like SQL where fast access to data is required. In cases where it is used simply for file storage, there are better products available for less.
