Overall Satisfaction with Qlik Sense
Initially, Qlik Sense was used in a few departments (the more tech-savvy and quantitative) to help us improve access to our data and help drive evidence-based decision making. We have lots of scattered amounts of data, in lots of types, so Qlik Sense/Qlikview's ability to flexibly connect lots of different types of data was essential.
Pros
- Connect lots of "messy data" together
- Easy ability to "click" and modify tables to identify patterns
- Fairly easy learning curve
Cons
- The syntax is ugly, using {< for set expressions, etc.
- Helped democratize data access within our organization, allowing users to get closer to the data. Although sometimes this is bad, since people "poking around data" without actually knowing what the data represents, is more dangerous than useful.
- Makes certain types of ad hoc analysis very easy, efficient (drill-down type work)
- Table-based reporting and simpler graphics are easy to set up for daily use.
Qlik Sense showed the best ability to work with large, messy datasets. It also demonstrated the best ability to handle very large datasets. (Tableau is known to crash/struggle with datasets of our size.)
